While James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ and Sanjay Mishra-Mahima Chaudhry’s ‘Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi’ are releasing in theatres on Friday, December 19, this weekend also brings 9 new web series and films to OTT platforms that you can binge-watch.
Madhuri Dixit is back with the crime thriller ‘Mrs. Deshpande and Nawazuddin Siddiqui return with ‘Raat Akeli Hai – The Bansal Murders’, a murder mystery set in a new city. The fourth and final season of the carefree girl-gang series ‘Four More Shots Please!’ is also releasing. Meanwhile, ‘Emily in Paris’ is set to take viewers on a journey between Paris and Rome in its fifth season.

Mrs. Deshpande (December 19)

Madhuri Dixit is set to appear in her darkest role yet in ‘Mrs. Deshpande’. This Hindi crime thriller series features an ordinary-looking housewife who is actually a notorious serial killer. She has been kept isolated from the world. But when a new killer starts mimicking her old methods and committing similar crimes, the police are forced to strike a dangerous deal with Mrs. Deshpande. They bring her out of isolation to help them track down the new killer. The series is based on the popular French web show ‘La Mante’. ‘Mrs. Deshpande’ is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, known for ‘Iqbal’, and also stars Siddharth Chandekar and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
Raat Akeli Hai – The Bansal Murders (December 19)

Nawazuddin Siddiqui returns to OTT in ‘Raat Akeli Hai – The Bansal Murders’ as Inspector Jatil Yadav. This sequel features a new case. This time, the story is set in Kanpur, where the bodies of members of the wealthy Bansal family are discovered behind the high walls of their mansion. As Inspector Jatil attempts to unravel the mystery, shadows of black magic, land deals, and old feuds emerge. It’s a web of greed, deception, and revelations, even darker than the previous film. The film also stars Radhika Apte, Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, and Revathi in prominent roles.
Four More Shots Please! season 4 (December 19)

In the final season of ‘Four More Shots Please’, the girls’ gang is on one last vacation trip. The group of friends in Mumbai consists of Damini (Sayani Gupta), Anjana (Kirti Kulhari), Umang (Bani J), and Siddhi (Maanvi Gagroo). The story depicts their most challenging and high-stakes lives yet. These four women face emotional and professional difficulties, the consequences of past personal decisions, and a “big promise.” Something happens that forces them to reconsider their desires regarding love, work, and their relationships with each other. This season of the series also features Dino Morea, Milind Soman, and Prateik Babbar.
Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat (December 16)

Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s film ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ is set to release on OTT after its successful theatrical run. The story revolves around unrequited love. Harshvardhan Rane plays Vikramaditya Bhonsle, a troubled political heir who falls in love with a Bollywood star, Ada Randhawa. However, this love proves to be less romantic and more toxic. His obsession leads Vikramaditya to use his power to ruin Ada’s life and career, even after she rejects his advances. This story of love, hate, power, and heartbreak culminates in a dramatic climax, where only destruction awaits.
Thamma (December 16)

The fifth instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, ‘Thama’, was initially available for rent on OTT platforms. However, it is now available for free with a subscription. The story revolves around the mythology of the Betal, mythical creatures with vampire-like characteristics who, after witnessing the brutality of the 1947 partition, took a sacred vow to refrain from drinking human blood and to live in isolation.
Taadka (Rashmika Mandanna), a mysterious and powerful Betal, saves Delhi journalist Alok Goyal (Ayushmann Khurrana) from a bear attack in the forest. This incident sparks a forbidden romance between the two species. Taadka inadvertently frees the ancient, cruel, and evil Betal leader, Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who had been imprisoned for opposing the peace treaty. This happens when she breaks the Betals’ most sacred rule by transforming Alok into one of her own kind to save his life. As the film progresses, characters from ‘Bhediya’ and ‘Stree’ make cameo appearances.
Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse (December 19)

‘Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse’ is originally a Malayalam film. It stars superstar Mammootty as CI Dominic, a lazy but sharp ex-cop who has become a private detective. His new assignment is to return a lost handbag to its owner, which quickly turns into a perilous mission. What starts as a simple case of a missing purse soon leads to a web of missing women, suspicious hospital records, and a serial killer. This forces the disgraced detective to rekindle his skills and put his reputation on the line for the sake of the truth.
