According to media reports, Pen Marudhar has acquired the all-India theatrical rights for ‘King’ for a staggering ₹250 crore—marking one of the biggest deals of the year. This distributor boasts an impressive track record with Shah Rukh Khan’s films, having previously released hit movies such as ‘Jawan’, ‘Dunki’, ‘Zero’, ‘Badla’, and ‘Ittefaq’.
Notably, there was fierce competition for the domestic distribution rights of ‘King’, involving major players like AA Films, Jio Studios, PVR INOX Pictures, Yash Raj Films, and Dharma Productions. This intense bidding war underscores the film industry’s unwavering confidence in Shah Rukh Khan’s box office popularity.
Release Date and Star Cast of the Film ‘King’
It is worth noting that Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film, ‘King,’ is set to hit theatres this year—specifically on December 24, 2026. In this film, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen sharing the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan, for the very first time. The movie features a star-studded cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Raghav Juyal, among others.
The film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and British artist Ed Sheeran has also reportedly contributed a song to the movie. Notably, with this project, Shah Rukh Khan will make his comeback to the big screen after a three-year hiatus. It is worth mentioning that his last film, Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, was released in December 2023 and proved to be a hit. A Special Dance Sequence Was Scheduled to Be Shot This Month
In addition to the action sequences, Siddharth Anand had planned to shoot a special dance sequence this month. A source further revealed, “It has been designed as a major highlight of the film—visually spectacular and mounted on such a grand scale that it perfectly complements the majestic style of ‘King’.”
Shah Rukh Khan to Shoot a Special Action Scene for ‘King’
According to a report by Mid-Day, this action sequence was scheduled to be filmed starting March 23 at the ‘Golden Tobacco Studio’ located in Vile Parle, Mumbai. The report states that a grand set has been constructed inside the studio, designed to resemble an old, long-abandoned mill (factory). ‘King Khan’ was shooting a high-octane fight sequence on this very set. According to the report, a source revealed, “This is one of the biggest action sequences planned for the film. The stunts designed for it are extremely intense and highly realistic, and the stunt artists have undergone rigorous training for them over the past few weeks.”
